CI555 – 5×5
Custumer complaint – Noisey on spin.
When I has a look at it, there’s a horrible fast rachet noise, like an armature segment raised or a brush on upside-down.
On closer inspection, the armature has undressed itself…
Is this going to need a new motor? Did it Friday, and I aint heard back from the customer yet! Fingers crossed :innocent:

Had several like that, always needs a new motor, the armature has cooked.
Even had one on a three month old machine once.Jim.

Just phoned the customer, and the boss wasn’t there, but the daughter says it’s been working fine all weekend 😕
We’ll see!

Had a few like that. Mine had not cooked but the protective clear plastic film had come off the armature. I cannot see why it is needed so I pull all the plastic out, test the machine and hand it back. No call backs as yet.

Zanussi FJ series with the Sole motors from the mid – nineties did this regularly. It didn’t have any affect on the working or reliability of the motor. We used to megger them to be sure they were safe; I don’t recall one that failed sooner due to the plastic being removed.

Must admit I’ve not had one for a good while now, most of the early ones were at the time we had the dodgy brushes supplied.
However as I mentioned, one machine was only a few months old, lightly used and brushes although like a piece of coke on the ends were hardly worn at all.
I wasn’t going to risk sticking new brushes in that one. 😉

Tis one I fit Hoover brushes on (about a year ago) because I didn’t have any ISE ones.
Genuine Hoover though. Never had a problem with the genuine ones. 8)
