Hi,
changed the brushes but nothing apart from fill and empty. Motor measures out ok. Pcb clicks as per motor changing direction so took the PCB off and nothing visible. Continuity ok on wires from the PCB to motor.
Am I missing something or is it the PCB which I think is very unusual?

Tried all that but nothing visible and as the PCB is over £200 I think it’s a BER.

If customer can wait for a couple of days (I know that’s the difficult bit), and you have the time, why not do a few simple tests on the pcb yourself? If brushes going down caused this, which is likely, then you could just be looking at replacing motor triac or perhaps a relay; both easily checked. If you find something, and repair it, you get a buzz and you charge appropriately for your expertise.

Ah…now that’s where I would be less than confident, or competent even, attempting. Whilst it’s fairly easy and obvious that a triac has blown by the simple fact that very often you see the plastic lid blown off! It’s less than easy to suss out the value or its replacement reference number to then source a replacement. Let alone fiddle about desoldering/resoldering in a tiny little component with my welding rod of a soldering iron, my one good eye and very shaky hands. 🙁
How the hell you test that a relay has failed god only knows? Apart from the obvious burnt relay pins that is. I’ve re-soldered those pins successfully more times than Gandhi had a hot dinner but if the pins ain’t burnt, I’m at a total loss.:cry:
One thing I’m well in front on though is that I stock a good range of BSH modules that I’ve bought DIRT CHEAP or at some point in time have fallen off a passing lorry. Speculating all the while that at some point in time there will be a demand to replace rather than wrestling with the above scenario! 8)

Thanks for all the info but by the time I got back to her she had gone to Comet and picked up a new Bosch. Tried the ISE line but just too late 😥

I’m sure you’ll be back to unpack and install the new Bosch though. Whenever I BER a machine I always volunteer my expert ‘installation and demonstration’ services at a modest ‘call-back fee’ so all is never lost to those darn sheds! 🙂
