ParticipantJust had a delivery of some LG m/c’s and noticed there is a sticker on the front proclaiming a 10yr warranty on the direct drive motor.
I assume the customer has to pay a call out charge after the 2yr labour warranty has expired ?September 10, 2010 at 2:43 pm #330074don

I don’t understand that ! How can LG have information attached to the appliance stating 10 Year Warranty on DD Motor and then say that it will not provide the warranty ??
If this is correct its the same as saying that there is a six year corrosion warranty on a vehicle and when someone says Hello I want to claim under the warranty the manufacturer says Oh Your not covered at all it was nothing more that a advertising ploy !
Anyone care to elaborate ?

I seen one of those LGs at comet and when talking to a member of staff they said that it was the motor that was gauranteed .
Frankly they could not get away with false advertising and that you might have been misinformed.

The LG Direct Drive Motor is guaranteed for 10 years subject of course to the owner completing the correct purchase documentation/on-line product registration, correct machine installation, normal useage, freedom from accident or neglect and not subjected to any incident that can be described as an ‘Act of God’…..tick all of the above and the Direct Drive Motor IS guaranteed for 10 whole years.

Hi all
As with all things, a warranty is in fact a contract. A contract must be completed by both parties if it is to be relied upon later in life. The problem is the customer NOT completing the registration process of the appliance with LG customer services. The customer needs to do this so LG record the serial number and complete the contract.
Most customer ASSUME incorrectly that the process is automatic, it is not. If the serial number is not registered correctly at time of purchase, then LG will refuse the warranty, quite simple.
We have undertaken warranty work across the range of equipment supplied by LG and extended warranty on certain products has always been a sale feature they use, and each one has required the customer to register the appliance.
We have had many customers do this correctly and have never had a problem with the extended warranty as a result. Likewise we have had a great number of customer whom have not done it properly and quite rightly LG have refused to honour it.
Hope this helps clarify matters.
Regards
Jackal

sold countless numbers of LGs to disillusioned bosch customers, always made sure each ones filled out the guarantee form whilst there, so far no DD warranty issues, in fact no warranty issues at all so far (touch wood) bar blocked filters…

Had quite a few DD problems with the hall sensor causing LE error code, guarantee is worthless as LG take 3months+ to fix it, who can live without a washing machine for 3 months?
Luckily the electronics tend to fail after five years and can’t easily be fixed due to that nasty resin stuff over the PCB. Surprised you recommend LG over German Boschs (not the Spanish ones).

Do the stators fail on these anyway, or is it allways the hall sensor ?
