ParticipantThe washing in this FL884 has all of a sudden started coming out very creased on the normal wash cycles. Has anyone any idea why?

Have you disconnected the hoses or had any plumbing done? The most common cause of creasing is the machine rinsing in hot water. The hot pipe to the cold valve and the cold pipe to the hot valve…..easy mistake to make. Or the red and blue taps are reversed and it’s been reconnected incorrectly.
If you haven’t done any of the above, does the washing feel hot at the end of the wash? If it does then it is remotely possible that the heater switch in the timer has stuck (only ever seen one Zanussi do that in 27 years!) or the heater element has an electrical earth leak. (usually trips the RCD in the consumer unit).
The FL884 is an excellent machine and well worth saving if it is in good condition. Zanussi machines today don’t even come close to the reliability of these oldies. Get it repaired….don’t scrap it!!Hope that helps,
A.

Yes the washing is hot. The consummer unit has never tripped. The machine must be 15+ years old. Is it worth the cost of rplacing the parts?

Well they shouldn’t be especially after 3 or 4 COLD rinses. So I refer you back to my colleague aqualectric’s suggestion that the hot and cold hoses are the wrong way round! 😯

In that case my friend somehow the water that you think is the cold supply is actually connected to the hot water supply. Easy test, set the machine on a RINSE ONLY cycle and feel the cold water inlet hose going into the machine as it fills. There’s a good chance that hose will feel pretty hot after a while I shouldn’t wonder. 😉

if the fella has managed to replace thermostats , martin, i think a basic test to prove his hose connection is achievableOctober 5, 2010 at 4:10 pm #331913Martin
