After posting re the KitchenAid brand and deciding to steer clear, I need to purchase an oven to go with my newly delivered (but still to be installed) Magnet Trade kitchen

Narrowed my choice down to the following 3 ovens -:

    Siemens Built Under HB13NB521B Double Oven (71.7H x 59.5W x 55D

    RangeMaster R7247 Built Under Double Oven (72H x 59.4W x 54D)

    Britannia 200LMP or 201LMP Double Oven (89H x 59.6W x 55D)

The 1st question is can I squeeze the Brittania into the oven housing or would I need to leave it as a standalone oven?

I’m looking to use an Induction hob above the oven (probably a Baumatic as I can pick one up for under £300 with a 5 year warranty), would the Brittania leave enough ventilation for the hob? (The worktop is 38mm high)

2nd Question, which of the ovens have I listed would be the clear favourite or do they all all have pros & cons which negate each other?

Sorry for all the questions, who though choosing an oven would be so difficult 😳

I’d go with the Rangemaster personally.

Also remember to leave lots of ventilation for the hob, it’ll need it. I normally say to people to try as best they can not to put an oven under an induction hob as, in my experience, it’s one of the primary reason that you get trouble with an induction hob.

    Thanks for the feedback!

The hob ventilation discounts the Brittania option then 😉

How reliable are the Rangemaster ovens, I know they don’t have as many PCB’s etc to go wrong as the Siemens, but I’m worried that a 1 year warranty doesn’t exactly scream confidence from the manufacturer

Also is there a great differential in the cost of repairs between the Rangemaster & Siemens?

Yes, Rangemaster is MUCH cheaper. 😉

Re: Help Me Choose My Oven – Ready To Pull Trigger

    hi all,
I am not trying to hijack your post but it was an excellent title for my question

Anyhow, now that i have my new ise10 on order :bounce: I am on the hunt for a good ceramic hob freestanding cooker, i can have 500,550 or 600mm width. I usually buy products from manufacturers who are producing a particular item, the only time i have not done this is by using british gas for my electricity (it was a hard decision but a good deal). So back to the cooker, i will consider new world, belling, cannon or another ‘cooker make’. I have been considering a belling FSE60DO in black (yes black) but would have a different colour. So any recommendations would be appreciated.

    thanks in advance

Re: Help Me Choose My Oven – Ready To Pull Trigger

thanks for that strocky, looks a nice cooker, hadnt thought of bosch for cookers but i think i would prefer to have a double oven, although not essential. What do people think about the pros and cons of single/double ovens?

    Hi Quickwash,

Personally I have had both double and single ovens and have never had a preference. I only use one cavity anyway, even at Christmas etc.

I would have though it depends on YOUR own needs, what do you have now? What do you cook? For how many? How often? At the end of the day it is something only you can decide as only you know how you cook. 😉

    HTH,

    Oliver. 😀

Not cheap but I think it’s a very good cooker, others may differ 🙂

New someone would have a different opinion, service and technical back up is very good now, believe me Ian I’ve worked with them for a long time and this is the best I’ve known it mate, this cooker though is a really nice bit of kit and I am thinking of getting one myself 🙂

I will agree that the article linked to is a couple of years old now.

Might be interesting to get more ‘current’ feedback from the trade members. 🙂

Re: Help Me Choose My Oven – Ready To Pull Trigger

    thanks everyone,

The main reason i like a double oven is due to where the grill is, i didnt really like the single oven i had last time as the grill was in there as well.

I could probably manage now as i have a combi microwave.

What do you guys in the know think of the belling FSE60DO?

I do like the cooker above but i think a little rich for my pocket, like that self cleaning bit though!

Re: Help Me Choose My Oven – Ready To Pull Trigger

ok as its a bit of a bandwagon thread, seriously CONSIDER whether you need a b/u d/o…

total capacity for both ovens only slightly outweighs a single, the main benefit obviously being control of 2 temperature zones in one carcass space.

fact is the main oven on any b/u d/o is tiny, and rarely has enough height to comfortably accomodate a christmas turkey.

as well as this, obviously unit preparation will add to teh total cost of incorporating a b/u d/o, especially if its a case of a 60×60 single oven to a b/u d/o and if there is only a 13a feed for the original oven…

and again other than the advantage of having the hob separate to the oven, in case something major goes wrong with one or the other, there is no contest between a hob+b/u d/o vs freestanding d/o cooker… f/s d/o wins hands down 🙂

Re: Help Me Choose My Oven – Ready To Pull Trigger

    hi iadom,

I just realised what the DeDe was on your post. Makes sense what is said in the write-up. I dont mind using a slightly different company sometimes but if the service back-up is not there then it aint for me!

When i read up on ise products however it was a completely different story, what with the ingenuity of using local repairers, producing products that will last with long guarantees plus cheaper parts when products are out of guarantee, I started saving for a ise10 washer straight away! The folks at ise really deserve the big  for jumping off the bandwagon and taking on the ‘big guys’ :brave:

I think i will go for a f/s, d/o cooker, but am yet to decide which one for sure. Anymore help with this decision will be gratefully received. 🙂 Wish ise made a cooker!

    thanks all
