Some machines have a neutral drain gearbox fitted which does what it says ie. drains in neutral.
Most UK models will start spinning full of water.

Check for a broken suspension spring.
The one at the back which is connected from the tub mount down to the chassis is the likely culprit.

The friction pads can wear out, break or get contaminated.
There are two sets of three (both different)

Only other thing I can think of to check is the weight ring around the top rim of the wash drum.
It contains water which moves round during spin and helps to even out imbalance.
If the water has got out the balance will be affected.
Don’t know if it comes as a spare or if you need a complete drum.
