ParticipantHello,
The machine will start, and maybe even finish cycle, however, mostly it stops at some point and all lights go out.
If I tap or push hard in the area of the PCB, top right of door it will start again. Sometimes I have to tap it or lately I find that pushing against the door by the PCB starts it again. I may have to do this a few times to get it going. Would I be safe in assuming that I am looking at a new PCB? Don’t want to order new one if other causes are present also.
Look forward to your replies.
Regards,
Bob

Hi again,
Not trying to bump this up but another thing is that on the quick wash 35 deg, which we have been using a lot to clean after a failed main wash (hope that made sense), when I open the door after the wash it seems really too hot for 35deg, lots of steam. Does this point to another problem or could it be PCB causing that?
I really want to sort this as it’s been going on for a long time, so many times I have almost disconnected it all, destination council tip. Yet otherwise it is in first class condition.
Regards,
Bob

Sounds like faulty connection somewhere, :lesson: power off of course if you are going to investigate further.

Thanks for your input, I intend to have the door cover off and a look at the PCB faulty connection certainly seems likely given that pushing hard aginst the door in that area gets it going again. I will report back in a couple of days.

Bob

Hello again,
I decided to take the door off and have got to the PCB, however I can’t seem to get it out of the plastic casing, which seems to be on a hinge. Do I need to remove the whole thing from the aluminium frame before opening the plastic casing?, if so any tips on how to do so, one of the flanges has already broken off (brittle).
Hope someone can help!
Regards,
Bob (who is washing up by hand tonight!)

Hi once more,
Well, after having another look (in better light), I saw just how easy it is to remove the pcb from the plastic box!
Cant see any signs of burnt out circuits on pcb all looks OK to my untrained eye. Will put it all back together after double checking for loose connections and see what happens. Could this possibly be something simple as the door switch? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Bob

ParticipantBob , this may sound silly but is the appliance plugged in behind the machine ? If you pull the appliance fwd does the power go off then ?
I have a few occasions where the plug is behind the machine and gets stuck in to ‘tar’ back panel and then pulls itself slightly out the socket. Maybe when you’re pushing the pcb , you’re actually pushing the appliance and therefore the plug back in ?Worth a look

Thanks for your reply nomadpaul. Machine is well away from socket, it is definately a thump around the area of the pcb, where the program buttons are. The other night I set the timer for 1hr, to come on at 2330hrs, I went down at 0550 and it was still going (on quick cycle 35mins), so it must have switched off and then came back on around 0430hrs. Bizzare! It’s getting close to becoming another recycle statistic which is such a shame. It wouldn’t be so bad if I could sell the bits and pieces rather than scrap the lot. Such a waste of materials.

Bob

Hi, here is a pic of my pcb, I am not sure, but does that look like a small scorch mark in the center, to the right of the 4 holes?
Once again, advice appreciated.

Well, our plumber/electrician was here today for another job, showed him the pcb and he reckons that it is burning at the spot I mentioned. Unfortunately, it looks like the skip for this dishwasher. I will try and sell for spares first though, or even give it away.

Bob

The solder joint at the top doesnt look great and may be worth a dab with
a soldering iron before you skip it….February 18, 2011 at 8:51 am #343049magnumm44

Hi,
Is that the top one of the 2 blobs at the scorched area?

Thanks, I have put a blob on it and run the machine on a quick wash went without stopping but will wait until we try full cycle. One other thing re the quick wash which should be 35deg, it is really hot at the end like a steam bath when you open the door. I don’t think it should be that hot, so maybe there is another problem looming?

Bob

It will probably use much higher temp when on the drying cycle independant
of the wash cycle -check your manual.
Just checked and its 55 C on the rinse aid cycle and could be even higher
if you have the intensive drying option switched on. -
