ParticipantThis machine is washing fine but on rinse cycle the machine overfills, as though its loosing water,i.e. fills for about 6 seconds and stops then fills again for 6 seconds. I have fitted a new pressure switch and checked the chamber and pipe. I don’t think it can be these as it would overfill on wash. The board has been sent for test to EMW. I just don’t understand why it only does this on rinse cycle. Any ideas please??

You dont say if this cycle continues or not. water is not siphoning away is it? Have you checked waste pipe level. May be ok for wash level but to low for rinse level.

No the water isnt siphoning, the cycle just continues to over fill? The waiste pipe is well above the water level. I have tried this with the drain pipe above the kitchen work top draining into a bowl.

What is the state of the pressure tube? Has it been rubbing on anything, causing a tiddly little hole which is insufficient to cause a problem until the higher pressure of high water level opens it? I’ve never had that but it sounds good, doesn’t it?

I did have a small leak like this a while ago on a hotpoint machine, it took me a while to find it because the machine washed and rinsed ok when empty but as soon as clothes were added it over filled repeatedly, as in this machine. Like you I suspected pressure switch, siphoning, leaking gaskets etc. in the end I changed the pressure switch hose and it solved the problem.
On close examination,of the old hose and with the help of a bubble liquid I eventually found a microscopic hole in a slightly chaffed area. I can only assume the extra weight of washing stretched the tube slightly and allowed it to weep the pressure away.
Just any idea
