ParticipantI have an Indesit WIB111 washing machone which all of a sudden has stopped working.
After opening it up I discovered the belt had come off so spent last night trying to get the belt back on. Anyway, after doing that and running a successful test wash all seemed to be fine.
But the belt has come off again. How do I put the belt back on and make sure it stays on?
Everything else about the machine seems to be working absolutely fine, its just the belt coming off.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

usually the pulley bolt comes loose, check this or maybe an item of clothing has been trapped between inner and outer drum

How do I check for either of these? What does the pulley bolt look like and where is it located?
Thanks

I’ts an elasticated belt and if you buy and fit a new belt tben all will be well. 😀

Err, its in the middle of the pulley, TBH these rarely come loose on these machines. The part number of the belt is a C00082318, it doesn’t appear to be in the shop@ here but the powers that be may well add it for you. 😉
As Martin says this a stretchy belt. You will be convinced you have been sent the wrong belt, it will be very tight to refit. Take care when doing this, there are some very sharp edges on this machine.

I’m guessing the “bolt” part of the original reply should’ve been spelt “belt”. 😉
The belt I currently have (i.e. the original) is absolutely fine, and is far too small to get on without some major force being exerted so I’m guessing all is fine in that department. Its just why it keeps coming back off after I’ve strained and strained to get the bloody thing back on.
As for the sharp edges. Well aware of those! My hands are currently cut to shreds from the last time I put the belt on!! 😀

If the drum spins freely without any noise when the belt is off then you need a new belt.
The combined experience of Martin and myself totals over 80 years in the trade if the belt comes off you need a new belt.
Only when you get a new belt will you realise just how tight the belt should be. 😉
However, if the drum is noisy when spun by hand with the belt off then your bearings have failed and the machine is ready to join countless other low age Indesit machines on the tip. :rolls:
PS. The original reply did say and mean BOLT. It is not unknown for the drum pulley securing BOLT to come loose, this allows the pulley to flap about and throw the belt off, not common on these though.

Thanks.
So in plain English, open up the back of the machine and check that the bolt in the centre of the big plastic wheel on the back of the drum is secure.
If it is, purchase a new belt and do my best to get the belt that is too small fitted.
If that doesn’t cure it, throw the machine on a skip and get a new one.
Is that about right?
Thanks for your help

Just spin the drum by hand with the belt removed and check the pulley to see if it is loose. If it is noisy when you spin it then bin it. It has a totally sealed drum so there is no bearing repair possible. 😥

Done another check on it.
The pulley isn’t loose. The drum spins by hand with the same resistance as before. The belt that is already on the machine isn’t snapped, stretched or warped in any way.

How do you know it isn’t stretched unless you compare it with a new one?
There should be virtually no resistance when spinning the drum with the belt off. It should be almost silent, smooth and very easy to spin by hand.
If it is not easy to spin round then as an earlier poster has said you may have something stuck in the drum. As this machine has the awful sealed drum in it the you may be in trouble if you do have something stuck in there. 😥
In my best ‘Allo, Allo’ voice, I shall say ziz only vonce more.
“If the drum is spins quietly and freely, the pulley or motor is not loose but the belt comes off, you need a new belt“

I’ve got a new belt now. May as well eliminate all the potentials one by one.
How the hell do you get it on the machine?!?!? It doesn’t stretch. I can’t work it out.
Can anyone give me a step by step guide or (even better) a video for this model on how to do it?
Much appreciated

So you now accept that your old belt has stretched. 😉
No easy way, just brute force, popping it in a bowl of very hot water for a few minutes can help. But if an old codger like me can pop them on in seconds without warming them up you should be able to sort it, trust me, it will go on. 🙂
