Whiteware maker Fisher and Paykel says its decision not to include butter conditioners in its refrigerators is a sign of the times.

Federated Farmers’ magazine Straight Furrow has been swamped with support for Nelson man Gary Black, after he complained his new F&P fridge did not contain a butter conditioner.

He is labelling the move as anti-kiwi and not one he expected from a New Zealand company.

However Fisher and Paykel’s Malcolm Harris says the company is simply responding to greater demand for spreadable products such as margarine.
