ParticipantSame old thing 😳
Had to reboot the laptop and can’t get the disc to reload to Vista. Tried everything and the search but all the links are now dead.
Please help with any Tips.
Thanks

Remember you need to do it in ADMINISTRATOR mode

Yeah George,
Done every permutation but just going round in circles. I think last time it was XP service pack 2 in administrator that worked but it seems very hit and miss. Having about the 15th go now, the laptop has had an hors rest.June 12, 2011 at 10:40 pm #353492robbra

Tried it three times since it rested and it goes into big letters mode. Switched off and going to bed.

Hi , are you trying to start it from the disc or did you copy the contents to a folder on your hard drive… The only way i got mine working on laptop was to create a new folder then copy from disc to folder then remove disc once copied .Then went to where i placed the folder and installed from there . Worked perfect for me.

I feel your pain and frustration on this one Rob. I gave up on the ‘laptop on the road’ idea some while back in favour of Smartphone. I figured I didn’t need TDS on the road as I can get it on-line anyway using my phone. I have a mass of LUX tech PDF’s
on there too so I only need to search for the PNc number to find the correct diagnostics info out on the road.Looking up parts and prices very possible though long-winded and I generally leave that task to when I get back to my office.
Squadman seems to be somewhat of an expert in resurrecting TDS on laptops by the way. Might be worth you contacting him or at least consider my chosen option. 😀

Ooops! Apologies to Rob for straying a little ‘off topic’ here. But no Shaun, not got full TDS on my Samsung (impossible) but most of the relevant tech info PDF’s and I can use Quickoffice to search PNc no’s…..magic! 😀

Yes Rob , the phone is an android phone similar to the iphone (but i prefer this phone to the iphone after playing with both but thats just my personal choice). You can do quite a lot with these phones and the applications you can download are very good . I have loads of technical pdfs and also the uk whitegoods fault code guide on mine and it loaded no problem … connects to wifi and internet and is pretty quick, also have google maps on mine that i can use even when i am not using internet which is handy if you forget the sat nav lol. There is much more that these can do but i’d be here all day going through stuff lol.
Very handy indeed if you don’t want to carry a laptop around..It’s easy to load a service manual on before you go out to a job (you don’t need to access internet to view all your saved files etc ).

Thanks Shaun,
Had a look online but so many it’s confusing so off to Carphonewarehouse Wednesday. I’m drawn to Sony Ericsson but will have a good rummage. What do you pay a month?

As Martin says TDS is an option on a smartphone, I am running a pdf reader of my iphone which allows access to fault codes and diagnostic routines.
As regards Windows some times installing TDS it gets screwed up on install and will not install after that. Adobe Reader versions can cause this as can incorrect installation of TDS BEFORE installing Adobe Reader.
My advise would be to do a complete fresh install of windows, Yes I know its a chore, configure and optimise your OS, then use Acronis Backup to make a image of that clean install. Next install your software and Things like TDS, Sios of whatever, then make a Acronis of that.
This way you will always be able to return to a given point within a very short time and I am sure TDS will install to a clean system. Also make sure your dont have any Adobe Reader versions installed when you first install TDS other than the version supplied on the TDS disk, I had several issues with versions around Ver 7 with TDS, install the Adobe first from the TDS disk and then TDS. It may also need to be run as Administrator, right click as run as.
Using TDS from a smartphone is doable but having a larger screen is far better than continually scrolling in my book, we run TDS of two laptops, to base systems and TDS live as well without issues.
Lets us know how you get on!

Thanks Squadman.
I was only loading because I have just done a windows install, took 4 hours in all. I’ve found a link on an old thread to the Electrolux site which seems similar to TDS so I’m getting a smartphone to check that when out and about and will persevere with the TDS later. I had Reader 10 running but it had a fault apparently so that may have a bearing.
