Hi, I live in Gozo (small Island near Malta) so no service engineers here!
OK. Freezer was only chilling to -10. On investigation freezer element has large build up of ice. My local appliance repair man switched off unit and defrosted ice with hair dryer. When switched on diagnostice light on freezer side r/h digit bottom right icon was flashing. Reset unit with the top 2 buttons and unit fired up OK, however, within 5 days fault reoccured and freezer woul dnot attain more than – 10 or so. We noticed the fan inside the freezer was not running so the engineer conected the fan to a direct 12 volt supply pack and the fan worked OK. Now, the freezer appears to be operating much better. The temperature is now on – 21 degrees, I think that is a good sign ? Perhaps what ever controls the fan is at fault and is it replaceable by my available engineer. He normally works on pre war frigdes I think !! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have also emailed direct to spares@ UK. Thank you in advance Mike.Gozo.June 16, 2011 at 10:36 am #353664electrofix

if its a 12v fan there must be a printed circuit board controlling it.

Hi Dave, Is the defrost sensor suspect with these symtoms? The reasoi I ask is the digital display showed the second digit (freezer) right hand bottom was indicating a fault. Question..I the sensor the blue thnigy on the back panel? If so I have checked the connector to make sure it’s well plugged in. Sorry about this problem but I need to diagnose the fault and then hopefully obtain a remedy. Thanks Mike.gozo
