Hi,
The internal door hinge (the one with the roller) on my oven has broken. I can get the replacement parts from SMEG for £15, but they won’t tell me how to replace them. Is this an easy task or do I need an engineer. Incidentally the “approved” engineer will only come on a call out basis and will give no indication of time required to fix it despite knowing exactly what is wrong!
Any help appreciated

The fact that you ask if it’s an easy job suggests to me that you need an engineer.
I can quite understand why the guy can’t give you any time scale on the repair as he is relying on your diagnosis to be correct. Best bet is to ask him to come and check the door hinge out and then he can order the correct parts, even though the door hinge may seem obvious there are other factors that may affect the door opening mechanism.

The problem is the roller on the internal hinge has broken & fallen away. I am a competent engineer, but rather than pull everything apart needlessly, I wanted to know how to get access to the hinge – it’s only held in by 2 screws (accessed from the front), but I don’t know how to get to the hinge to actually remove & replace it.
