I have a Zanussi DE 6854 (PNC 9119 15012/01) which, although around 10 years old, still works perfectly EXCEPT THAT sometimes, whatever the programme chosen, it does not heat, either in the ‘wash’ or ‘dry’ parts of the cycle. There are no flashing lights but only cold water is used and the contents are wet, but clean, when the door is opened. I suspect that the electronic progrmmer may be faulty. What else might be causing this problem and is it worth fixing?

Intermittent heat is more likely to be the PCB or possibly even a wiring break.

This fault on a PCB is quite common, not a cheap repair, it really depends on the overall condition of the machine TBH.

Thank you ladom. Does the PCB slot-in or what? Is replacing it something I might do myself as a user with a modicum of common sense or would I need to call in an engineer?

Part number is 1526779705, expect to pay £100+ for one.

Its impossible for me to judge your ability from here. 😉

Not a very difficult job but usually involves some wiring modifications. Its not a slot in job, there are several connector plugs to change over.

Thank you very much for your help. I think I will go for a new one. A pity because otherwise the machine is in good condition.
