Participant6 year old, but under used machine, shows Delay Timer LED rapidly flashing. I’ve researched on here and found this indicates a heater relay problem.
However, the machine only displays this fault when draining and going into spin after a wash, at least on programs 3, 4 and 11. Power goes to the heating element during the wash and cuts out during drain. Machine works normally on short rinse, drain and spin settings. Water level switch clicks when blown and sucked, pump functions, all drain hoses are clear, all edge connectors removed and refitted.
Could this still be heater relay at a time when there’s no current to the element – and element seems to switch in and out normally? If so, is it one of the 3 white cubes on the main circuit board or hidden elsewhere? There is no sign of any burning or over-heating on the board.
Any ideas please? 😀

Do I take it from the lack of response that this is a previously unknown situation or have I failed to give sufficient info or breached etiquette in some way?

the heater relay is on the main module and will normally work ok on the wash but fails to de-energise properly so causing the F08 fault when it gets to rinse. replacing the module or the relay on the module should cure the fault

Thank you, now I understand. Fitted new module today but exactly the same fault. 🙁 Unable to speak to module supplier until Monday.

have you checked the heater to see if its open circuit ?.

Yes, disconnected element and got a reading – sorry, can’t remember how many ohms.

Hmmm, these modules require programming with either Indesit’s own software (not available to the independent trade ) or by using a smart card and card reader. Was the board supplied as already programmed or was it a second hand pcb?

Board was supplied by EMW (I do hope you’re all not going to fall about laughing) and I was told it would be programmed. They seemed to know what they’re talking about when I phoned to order it.

Boards from them are usually OK, which is more than can be said for Indesit electronics in general. :rolls:
F08 can also be caused by pressure switch fault.
However if you do a search of this forum (enter 8 flashes )you will soon see what a well documented and often difficult problem this is to rectify.
Personally I don’t do 8 flash/F08 faults at all now because I have been out of pocket on many occasions when trying to fix them in the past. 😥

That’s good to know, but I’m not sure it’s OK now. New board was a bit warm when I removed it. I did hear a noise, possibly a relay rapidly clicking in and out, but could just have been a vibration.
Pressure switch seems OK – contacts 1 and 3 zero resistance at rest, open when pressured, contacts 2 and 3 open at rest and zero resistance when pressured.

Pressure switch may appear to be OK with that simple test but they are very weak and internal switches can and do break down under load.

OK… that may be why, on the info sheet with the board, EMW suggest changing module and pressure switch for this fault. Not mentioned on the phone though…..
Any way of testing the switch? Wouldn’t have thought it would be under much load.

Well its got the heater load going through it when the heater is energised for a start.
The only way to examine them is to break them open and inspect the contacts, this of course wrecks the switch, they are fairly cheap to buy though.
