Been given this machine that appears to be in working order but, the wash cycle dial moves round with the setting knob ie. the bit with ABCDEFH on it.
Question, can anyone on this forum please tell me where it is supposed to be so that wife knows where to set knob for a particular wash, A,B, C, etc ?
Thanks in advance for any help, first post here.April 16, 2012 at 5:35 pm #373319Seamy

There should be a small hole in the front of the knob, push in a small pin or needle & turn the knob slightly anti clockwise, it should pop off towards you then, with this off you can see the inner piece which is more than likely broken, see which parts are required & serach on the shop here for required parts.

Hi Seamy, thanks for reply. Not sure if I have explained the problem correctly. It is the label underneath with the wash programs letters on it that is loose. I nead to stick it down in the correct position or is it held in the correct place by some other means? Knowing where A,B etc should be, I was just going to glue it down.

You will need first to remove the outer timer knob AND the inner timer knob(as Seamy referred to earlier) to enable you to to inspect the device (which is called a Cycle Indicator Part No: 1246491201).
It could be the the two locking lugs have broken OR that the guide has broken OR that the Timer Cam Wheel has broken? Access to all these is less than simple in the grand scheme of things. And the use of glue a certain no no!
HTH? 😀

Hi Martin, thanks for your input. I obviously nead to understand how the “cycle indicator” and “wash timer cam wheel” is supposed to work. I thought it was just fixed in position to indicate where to set the timer knob for any type of wash. Not as simple as that then.
Could you perhaps elaberate on their workings please -
