Was at this one today, the drive coupling had broken so no spin or agitation going on. However when I took the motor off to replace the coupling I found that the coupling was oily and there was oil around the drive shaft of the gearbox. The only repair I have ever had to do on these top loaders is replace the drive coupling so I haven’t come across oil leaks before. I presume a seal has perished in the gearbox but I don’t know 1. what is involved in replacing / repairing the gearbox. 2 Where I can get the necessary parts and 3. What sort of money this repair might run to.
My customer is keen to repair the machine as they aren’t available to buy over here anymore (apparently)

    Any advice most welcome.

I haven’t had to replace the seals in one of these gearboxes but I have stripped one down, they are not that difficult to do but are easier done on a workbench with a tray to catch/drain the oil into.

The part No’s for the seals are:
    481953278121 Motor Coupling seal
    481946669833 Inner output shaft gasket
    481946669834 Outer output shaft gasket
481939038023 Sealant for the two body half’s (I think)

PM me an e-mail address and I can send you a copy of the Direct Drive Manual which goes into detail of how it works and I can also send you an exploded diagram for the gearbox.

    Jem
