Hi. The dishwasher stopped cleaning the bottom tray items. I cleaned out the filters and the bottom spray arms. The micro filter ‘frame’ had broken up and parts of it found their way into the bottom arm. I ran the rinse programme. The arm does not spin. Removed it and water is not being supplied to this arm. I ran the hottest programme and still not spinning.
I am hoping that I can clear the blockage, if that is the cause, without taking the machine apart.
After reading some info on the internet I somehow triggered the door latch and now I can’t shut it but can opperate the machine (programme indicators not lit!) with the door open. How do I get back to normal opperation?
Is my machine the type that has alternate water supply to upper and lower arms?
    Any advise much appreciated.

At the top center of the door use two thin blade screw drivers to flick the door latch catch back to the off position.
These d/washers have a water divertion valve to increase the water spray to the top or bottom spray arm.The divert motor mounted on the heater box could be faulty or jammed. remove bottom spray arm with torch look down theremaining tube if blocked by a metal disc try to manualy open with a long thin blade driver. test m/c this may not be a perminent repair. motor comes with heater box and is very expensive hope this helps.

I have applied some leverage to the door latch to push it back but all I seem to be doing is distorting the area around it. Not sure how flicking this bolt works, it seems to be locked in position.

The bottom of the tube, where there is an offset hole about 6mm diameter, is not blocked by a disc.

Nevertheless the heater box/water diverter unit is faulty and the only cure is to replace it. A costly fix by the way and NOT something for the DIYer to tackle. Contact your local independent repairer. 🙂

Is it impossible for the broken filter parts to have somehow jammed the diverter unit mechanism? I would still like to know how to get the latch/bolt back to normal??

    Yes!

Loop some strong thin wire onto the door latch hook then gentle lift up to reset to the hook’s unlatched position.

    Yes!

Excellant. Won’t waste time on it.

Got it! Its a rotating latch. No wonder it wouldn’t lever back the way I was trying.

    Thanks
