These machines are designed to have a neutral drain, once they have emptied the motor should stop briefly before starting again which should then engage the shaft to start it spinning.
With the outer cabinet off and a bit of suitable wire to link out the door switch connection you should be able to see the clutch – draw a line on it then observe whether it spins or not, if it does then it may be the bearings or brake that are at fault, if it doesn’t then does it pause the motor at all? If the motor does pause and it doesn’t engage spin then it may be 481931038725 (Wheel cog kit) which isn’t engaging as it should.
