Hi Folks my Hotpoint CTD 00P condenser dryer is working OK except for the fact that the ” empty water” light is permanently on and of course it wont heat up due to the float cutout. I have the machine plumbed to the drain since new so the water tank has never had water in it. I have followed all instructions in the manual without success as the light remains on ( but I now have a beautifully clean condenser). I suspect that the float chamber remains full or the float is stuck/faulty. How do I get the cover off the floa chamber to check it out without destroying it? I have tried rerleasing the three plastic clips I can see from the outside but something is holding it on at the end near the two pipes and I don’t want to force anything. Can anyone help please.

Order up a new pump & float kit, probably on this site somewhere, its bound to need it.
Unfortunately unclipping these things do require a bit of force. I find holding my breath helps.

Well it seems holding ones breath does actually help so thanks for the response mate. I only broke one tab taking it apart and guess what ! the problem was that the rubber band which poses as an impeller on the pump was broken. I cannot believe that this machine depends on a rubber band for continued operation and a rubber band that cannot be purchased separately either! It must cost around 10 p to produce one of these and yet I am expected to spend £24.00 on purchasing a new pump now. Actually, if you have a hot glue gun and a steady hand( holding the breath helps here too) then it can in fact be repaired. Not sure how long it will run for but its working fine now !!!.
