ParticipantHas anyone got the number/price/source of a thermostat for a Smeg D/W model DWD61? The machine wasn’t heating so I reset the (tripped) manual cut out and all was well. Next wash, no heat. I’m assuming the machine is overheating due to a faulty stat. Is this a fair assumption? Anybody got any other ideas before I go back to it?

KeymasterCould be the stat, I’ve seen it happen before. Can also be a “hot spot” on the element or something lying on the element across the stat as well.
Price etc. is no problem and Dave or I will check that in the morning for you.

Have had this problem, usually changing heater and stat sorts it. if its not tripping everytime, it could be you placing a bowl in rack over stat, causing a “mushroom” effect trapping heat in a small area thus tripping stat.
Hope that helps

Knowing Smeg d/washers, do not rule out circ. motor overheating and TOC operating. These can be time consuming to locate.
We usually refer Smeg users to the Corporation Refuse Dept.

There’s three variants Dave, I THINK it’s just colour so anyway, part numbers are…
818730825 – Tank Stat (not on my price list :?)
806890373 – Heater (£21.29 list)
Again, if you’re stuck, the tother Dave should be able to get them.

That’s because it’s 818730285 😀
Now superseded by 818731072
Price for that stat is £11.73 list.
