ParticipantI have tried without success to find the ‘meaning’ of this sequence of lights, so I hope someone might know on here:
Wash cycle starts, water is drawn in, then the following lights flash. Apart from the door lock, the other three flash in time to each other. There are no pauses.
Door lock on rapid flash
Column 1 (of four buttons): 3 (spin) and 4 (dry)
Column 2 (of four buttons): 3 (reduced spin)Is there any hope for getting my washing done today?!
Many thanks.

I’m guessing it is actually an A1600WD, there is no A1600WM.
I don’t have the error codes for that machine but it is usually only one row of lights used for error codes on that range of machines.
Hopefully someone who does have access to the exact codes may be along later. 😉

Many thanks! You’re absolutely right: it is WD, not WM (I’m guessing WD is Washer/Drier). Today I tried to run other programmes including a spin and a dry cycle – both triggered the same code.

Hmm, the nearest I have found that uses both columns only uses the bottom light of the left hand row and a combination of all four of the right hand row which are actually buttons. 😕
Looking at the parts list for your machine also shows a row of lights on the left and a row of buttons on the right.

Are’nt they the same as the WIDL codes Jim? (F03 NTC error perhaps?)

Not AFAIK, the machine is based on a Hotpoint chassis, the A1636 series uses the same bank of four left hand lights and four right hand buttons but only the bottom (4th) left hand light and the four, right hand buttons are used for the codes.

My apologies again – the left hand column is indeed just lights. The right hand column are buttons you can use to select programmes. But the lights I originally posted about haven’t changed… 😕

Well until someone can confirm that the A1600 and the A1636 do use the same codes we are snookered. And if they do it still presents us with a problem as that would then mean you have a spurious error message. 🙁

Well not too keen on the possible snookering, but like the fact that I have a spurious error – excellent word! 😆
All help gratefully received.

The only way to proceed without the error codes is to remove the mains plug and then visually and electrically check each component with a suitable megger or multimeter.

Thanks for all your help anyway. I’ll deconstruct the machine bit by bit to see if I can isolate the problem. Could it be something as simple as a blocked waste pipe? Or does this really point to faulty electrics?
Thanks again.

A blocked outlet hose would leave the machine full of water and flash a known error code (hopefully)
TBH anything is possible, the Indesit electronics in this machine can be a bit flaky. 🙁
