I found the machine had stopped mid cycle and was displaying E62 code. When I tried getting it going again the motor was working but it was intermittent as if there was a loose connection somewhere. I have had the back off and checked the big white connector to the motor and no sign of loose connection and the contacts are good. Tracing the loom up to the back of the control board I checked the connections there too. The load in the drum at the time the machine failed was towels and they may have been too heavy for what the machine can handle. Has anyone got any suggestions as to to what’s gone wrong?

Hi: If I remember correctly the E62 error on your machine shows that it’s detected an overheating problem during the wash cycle. It could be due to a faulty thermistor or possibly a faulty control PCB.

Hi Specialist01260 – thanks for your reply, are you able to direct me to the suspect thermistor and when you say it could be the control board, is that a case of replacing the whole board, the one on the back of the control fascia?

Hi Drew: Unfortunately the thermistor is built into the heating element & not available as a separate part, the element on these is pretty pricey. If you follow the wiring from the thermistor to the control board you can check the plug / socket connections for it, if it is a control pcb fault then unless you can get it repaired then the only option is replacement & I would’nt even like to think how much the pcb is. Your best option in the long run may be to call a local engineer to check the machine for you.

Hi – thanks for your advice but going back to the symptoms how does an overheating problem cause the motor to be intermittent? I know E62 is the code for overheating but could Zanussi have changed this?

Have you checked the motor brushes ?
