I have a new Indesit washing machine model IWD 51231.

Under Setting the Temperature the manual states that “the machine will automatically prevent you from selecting a temperature which is higher than the maximum value set for each wash cycle”.

Well it doesn’t physically prevent me doing this so am I to assume it means that if I set it too high for the cycle it will ignore the temperature setting and only heat to the maximum for the wash cycle setting? So if I set the temperature knob to the maximum (90)and leave it on that permanently then will I automatically get the correct maximum for each cycle I subsequently use?

Sorry if this seems a dumb question but I don’t think the manual is clear on what it actually means.

Correct, the temp control can only reduce temperatures, not increase them above the setting for any particular wash.

Thank you. Shame the instructions don’t make that clear!

From what you wrote in your original post, I thought it was pretty clear. It doesn’t say that it physically stops you setting the highest temperature, just that it Automatically adjusts the temperature for the wash programme you select.
