WFR3269GB bosch logixx 1600 intermittently now permanently not draining. there is a very quiet hum from somehwere but not the pump i think. replaced pump with a spare salvaged from the previous machine 4 years ago. fired up fine and drained first time so thought the problem was fixed but when I threw a few litres of water in to rinse off any crud dislodged in the changeover and started the drain cycle… just a very quiet hum again. While problem was still intermittent i checked discharge lines which are completely clear and I checked the pump dry without the cover a couple of time and it span quite happily so I suspect problem is elsewhere. I will bench test the originbal pump shortly but expect it will be fine. Any ideas on diagnosis or solution would be most welcome

one of the things you have to understand about these pumps is you cant bench test them. yes you can get them to revolve but having water inside them is a whole different ball game.

your buzz can be only 1 of 2 things the pump or the fill valves and in your case i would suspect the pump. these pumps get intermittant as they wear. look for side to side play in the impellor. when the play is too much the rotor jams and wont start sometimes

Spot on Dave. received new askoll pump body today and fited it. On first dry run with filter unscrewed I thought I still had a problem as all I could hear was a very quiet hum but closer inspection revealed the impellor spinning away but quiet as a mouse. I had got so used to the noise of a worn pump rattling away I had come to regard it as normal. many thanks for your help.
