    Hello,

We’ve got a just under 2 year old BEKO CDA539FW which yesterday has started to freeze the contents of the fridge compartment solid.

From reading the information available on here I’d suspect that it is the thermostat which has failed. Can anyone describe where exactly I should be looking in the fridge for it? I’ve looked in the freezer compartment behind the removable panel, but didn’t see anything which looked like the thermostats described in various info posts on here.
Also, can anyone tell me what thermostat I need to replace it with?

    Many Thanks in advance.

The thermostat is part number 4305510500 here:

It should be inside the fridge normally 🙂

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for the reply. I can’t see anything which looks like a thermostat in the fridge compartment, nor in the freezer compartment! I’m slightly confused here!

Re: BEKO CDA539FW frozen fridge compartment

It should be in a housing behind the control knob in the fridge.

However, before ordering, I’d be sure that was the problem and that it wasn’t something else.

On that note, here’s some reading for you…

Re: BEKO CDA539FW frozen fridge compartment

    Hi,

Thanks, I’d already read that article.

In the fridge compartment the only thing in the housing with the control knob is a small circuit board and the light.
I cannot see a traditional thermostat with phial anywhere in the fridge or freezer compartments.
I just pulled the fridge out and saw a sticker on the back with the model number CDA539FW-2. Does the -2 change what sort of thermostat this fridge/freezer uses? Could it be an electronic thermistor setup instead?

I’m fairly sure that the thermostat is to blame as the fridge runs constantly, which probably explains the freezing of the fridge compartment. I’ve checked the control knob and the resistance changes as the knob is turned, which makes me think it is working correctly.

I’m hoping that this could be a simple and quick fix!

Thanks for the advice so far.

Yep, the -2 version has no thermostat, it is controlled by a PCB here:

It’s round the back near the top 😉

Re: BEKO CDA539FW frozen fridge compartment

Brilliant. So theoretically this could solve the problem? Is there any way I can check the PCB with a voltmeter to confirm it’s the dodgy part?

    Thanks

Re: BEKO CDA539FW frozen fridge compartment

It will also use a thermistor to detect the temperature which is a more likely explanation than the PCB I would imagine.

Re: BEKO CDA539FW frozen fridge compartment

I was curious and, got access to the Beko tech site back…

It’s very odd that, they show the board and Dave is totally correct in that it is that one but, it doesn’t show any thermistors at all there. Which is just plain weird.

Then in the tech bumph it says that for over freezing check the fridge lamp is working and correctly in place or, it causes issues. I assume some resistances go outta whack if that’s not right.

The only explanation that I can come up with for no thermistors shown as, after all, it has to detect temperature somehow and it doesn’t use magic, is that it is possibly foamed in like some of the Bosch and Hoover Candy ones are. Meaning that, if it is the thermistor that’s failed, you won’t be able to get it let alone get to it to replace it. 🙁

    Foamed in thermistors 😉

I would give the PCB a go though as it’s so cheap, you never know 🙂

Have ordered the PCB. It’s coming tomorrow, so hopefully will do the trick. Otherwise I’ll be looking for a new one! Bit annoyed as it’s not even 2 years old, and Beko only do 1 year warranty.

Where did you order it from ?

    It wasn’t from us 😉

I did phone up, but the part wasn’t in stock, so found another online retailer who had it ready to ship. Needs must I’m afraid!

No worries. PCB arrived this morning and fridge is back up and running. Thanks for the advice.
