Is there an internal fuse on this model that would control power to the main oven? Having replaced the blown 30A cooker fuse in the consumer unit the small oven works OK but there is no sign of life in the main oven. If one component fails/is faulty does/should this prevent all other components from working e.g. light and fan?

I have checked the clock/timer and replaced the base element (as a continuity test by an electrician indicated that this had gone). Does anyone have any suggestions where to look next?

    Thanks

you have blown a fuse and as susch all sorts of things can blow

you said you checked the clock but have you checked the power is coming out of it going to the main oven switches

take out oven selector switch and look at the contacts see if one of the has blown

    lastly check thermostat for continuity

    hope it helps

Thanks for your guidance. I managed to look at the clock and the power out connection had burnt out taking a couple of the other connectors with it. I have ordered a new clock/timer. What spec are the connectors/insulators likely to be as it look like I will have to replace at least a couple?
    Thanks

most people dont use the clock so you could have just bridged it so the clock tells the time thats all

connectors dont have a type as such but all connection have to be clean and tight.
ie if you crimp onto damaged wire it will cause heat and burn out very quickly

Thanks again. The clock didn’t tell the time before it went bang! 🙂 The cook in the house (not me) claims a working (again) timer facility will be very useful. Should I replace all the wires that need new connectors or just trim them back (assuming there’s enough ‘slack’)? If so do I need a particular type of wire?

if you trim them back to clean wire it will be ok

if not you need heatproof wire suitable for about 10 amps

New clock/timer (from UK Whitegoods store) now fitted and working and main oven is working fine. 😀

Might need to fit some new door hinges for the sake of efficiency though 🙁
