I am replacing the thermostat in an Ariston ETDF 450XNF fridge freezer that had a previous thermostat change with a non original thermostat.
Can someone please advise as to the correct positioning of the thermostat capillary tube bulb.
I suspect that the bulb needs to be in airstream that will feed back from the fridge compartment after the compressor and freezer compartment fan switch off – after the freezer compartment is down to the setpoint temperature.
    Is this correct ?

Secured to the evaporator I would imagine.

That seems wrong for this model. There are two plastic panels forming the rear of the freezer compartment that lie in front of the evaporator. Directly in front of the evaporator is one plastic panel holding the fan and the thermostat capillary was threaded through what looks like a purpose made hole in this. A second plastic panel about an inch further forwards hides the fan and then forms the rear of the freezer compartment with guides and holes arranged to direct the airflow. The air falling or rising from the fridge compartment feeds into this space between the two plastic sheets. The thermostat capillary bulb apparently should be placed somewhere in this space between the two panels but it is not clear where that should be.
