GU15DA50GB Siemens Freezer – No Defrost Outlet?

Hi all!

I am currently in the process of replacing all the appliances in my kitchen.

Last week I purchased a Siemens built-under – integrated Freezer GU15DA50GB from a local dealer.

The freezer arrived and was installed successfully. At the end of the installation process I asked the engineer how I would go about defrosting the freezer and would it be possible to point me to the defrost water outlet. Unfortunately, we could not find a defrost water outlet, which leads me to my question for the forum….

The product specification for the model GU15DA50GB clearly states on the Siemens website, in their catalogue and on dealers web sites that this model includes a “defrost water outlet – For easy convenient defrosting”. See here:

My first port of call was the manual, I could find any mention of this feature. The manual actually says that I must “sponge out”.

I then called on the dealer who then referred me to Siemens Customer Support. After speaking to no less than three customer support advisors at Siemens I could not get a straight answer. They promised to call me back after contacting Germany, however it has been several days and no one has made contact.

As you can imagine I am a little disappointed because it would appear that I have paid for a feature of a product which I have not received.

Should my freezer have the defrost water outlet? Does anyone else own this model with the defrost water outlet? What is your opinion?
