ParticipantMy daughter has the above machine which is less than 2 years old and as far as I can determine the bearings have failed or worse. Is it worth attemting a repair or is it likely to fail for another reason as soon as its been repaired. How much would a professional repair cost please?

I have taken the top off and the drum does split. I would like to dismantle it just to see whats happened and wondered whether anyone has taken one of these to pieces. looks like the only way is to lift drum out from the top or can you do it from the front?
Any advice welcomed.
Thanks

The drum comes out using a combination of both the top and front panel removal. Do bear in mind that the bearings and water seal are NOT available as separate items. The rear drum half (part no. 4055210779) is the only option at the staggering cost of £175.
Happy New Year! 😀

Bearings & seal are available separately, you would be very lucky to get away with just needing these, as sometimes spider (shaft) also needs replacing..

Thanks Seamy
The bearings and seals are standard engineering fare but not sure whether the shaft is up to it and not sure of quality of replacement spiders. The first Zanussi we bought lasted over 20 years and my daughters lasts for 2! Its a shameful really. There should be minimum quality standards to stop all the waste. I know it would mean more expensive machines.

Spider that you get as a spare should be actually be better than the original one in the appliance. There is a slight difference where the seal runs, they tend to last longer than the original one fitted. You may get away without having to replace the spider though if you want to try just bearings & seal. If its been really noisy though & bearing housing in rear tub is damaged or spider shaft damaged its not worth doing as Martin advised.
Note.. Model is ZWG1120m if you are looking for spares.January 4, 2014 at 7:04 am #401470captaincaveman1

These machine’s have never seen a Zanussi factory. Mainly were sold through Comet as “The manager’s special” and as the creator of this thread said it is shameful that this deception is allowed as he bought the machine for his daughter on the basis of the good service of his proper Zanussi machine. I know Electrolux need to try and compete with the like’s of Beko but ruining the Zanussi reputation isn’t the way forward. If you want a proper Zanussi make sure it has the rectangular filter cover on the bottom front right corner.

The “rebadging” of machines has been practiced for decades sadly and in this case I hardly think the OP would have bought it under its ‘actual’ brand known as Wuxi Little Swan as illustrated below….

This Chinese made Little Swan ZWG1120M rebadged Zanussi has a rectangular filter at the bottom right hand side. (I presume you mean not in the kickplate)
Best to look at the sticker inside door, if it says manufactured in PRC then its Chinese.
I don’t mind working on the ZWG1120 & ZWG1140, its the Vestel manufactured one that is torturous. To be honest Zanussi has moved to the lower end of the E’Lux brand as Bendix has been dropped.
Electrolux & A.E.G machines now on offer with 5 year warranty are decent enough.January 4, 2014 at 8:03 pm #401473captaincaveman1

Your right Seamy not on the kickplate the proper Zanussi has no kickplate just the filter aperture.
