I have a Bosch Exxcel 1200 Express and yesterday it decided that instead of spinning it would make a clanking, rattling noise. I turned off the power, removed the clothes and tried to check the filter. I say “tried” because the filter cover refused to fully turn or open. (I check/clean the filter on a roughly weekly basis).
We have tried tilting the machine to dislodge whatever is wedging the filter shut, but have had no luck. My other half then used a pair of pliers to try to force the filter open and the net result of this brute force is that the filter lid now won’t turn even partially. (Sigh…men. I bet I would have had better luck trying to negotiate with the filter).
Anyhow, we are now in a pickle of wondering whether it’s worthwhile (i.e. cheaper) to call a mechanic around or if we should buy a new washing machine. I’m on this forum to see if there is the remotest chance of another (i.e. cheaper) solution preferably one that doesn’t involve my other half using a sledgehammer or dynamite :eeek:.
I’ve done my homework by reading the brilliantly informative help pages on this web site but none of them help me regarding a stubborn filter lid.
All suggestions (bar handwashing in future) greatly appreciated.
