    Hi all
My Zanussi washing machine seems to go through a wash cycle ok- fills heats agitates rinses – but when it reaches the spin phase the drain pump is constantly on -it drains ok and spins, but then it seems to be stuck in a loop. The drain pump is on and it spins every few minutes, but wont end, even after an hour. The control knob on the front does not move, should it?

    Any ideas please
    Thanks Ray

No the control knob doesn’t go round. Have you checked and cleaned the drain filter lately?

Thanks for your reply Martin. yes I’ve checked and cleaned the filter, and as I said, it drains ok, it doesn’t take long for it to empty.

Well then all I would do is check all the components (motor, heater etc) especially their insulation potential. If all is well then it must be a faulty PCB.

Thanks again for your prompt reply Martin
The drain pump did get wet when we had a flood 2 weeks ago. I dried it out and it pumps out ok, but could this have affected the pcb? If the pcb needs replacing will the new one need programming?

If the fault was apparent since the flood then logically I would assume a connection. And the PCB can be purchased already configured should it be necessary to buy one.

I checked the pump insulation resistance after I dried it out, and it was ok, but if the pcb might be faulty then its not really worth buying a new one if I’m not absolutely certain that it is. It may be cheaper to replace the machine with a secondhand one.
    Many thanks for your help.

Well you do need to check the insulation of the heater and the motor as they can cause the PCB to go haywire anyway. Any spurious voltage can cause all manner of weird behaviour.
