Heck that looks nasty. You got out though which is the main thing I guess. Hope all goes well with insurers… I know that a lot of our tools we collect over the years are not replaceable.

I would get your insurance company to claim from ford and also claim for loss of earnings as well as contents of the van.
Sorry to here of the problem.
That is the trouble when you buy when Ford have one of there red hot sales.
Bob 😀

Ford Transits now made in Turkey, this one must be an early roaster.
At least you are safe, I would dread ever losing my tools, some of them have been with me since I started for Hotpoint in 1968.
Hope you get it all sorted.
Passed your picture onto Honestjohn.co.uk he has added the details to his web site.

thats the one 🙁
the black stuff you see on the grass is the tools etc i managed to save, didn’t quite factor in the van exploding and all my stuff catching fire 🙁
I’m fine tho tools & stock can be replaced 🙂
the guys at ford said i was lucky to get out as the door locks are electric and could have jammed closed 😯

I figured that the more publicity this gets the more Ford are likely to play ball.

Is this the new transit custom ?
My transit was in a ford dealer last week for its service and they had one of the new customs in pieces, dash and all seats out, when I was talking to the mech he said it had an issue where some wires chafe on the body under the dash, in fact I’m sure he said its something to so with the air bag as well.

yeah transit custom m8, mines was in 3 weeks previously for a wiring fault, initially in the rear where the wires run along for brake lights however it also needed the control module replaced as it had blown, the tech told me these new ones dont have fused protection on some of the components :rolls:

Is this a known fault with the transit custom? I have one of them, 7 months old and so far so good, but do want it catching on fire!

im guessing thats a typo and intact you “don’t” want it catching fire 😀not a common fault as far as I’m aware, intact it appears mines was dodgy panel installation with screws going straight into loom 😳
luckily enough it was the ford dealer who did the panelling or i could have in bother :rolls:

You are quite right, I don’t want it to catch fire, coincidently ford did the panel lining on mine too and my transit connect!
Hope you get it sorted soonDecember 10, 2013 at 5:00 pm #405894diesel114
