KeymasterGot an old band-saw with deffect motor.
Have picked out a 1-fased solemotor from a washing maskine.
Too many wirings from the motor. (7)
NEED BADLY A WIRING DIAGRAM for this motor for use on 240v~ 1-fase.Picture of motor :

This isn’t going to be easy I’m afraid, the motor, as you are probably aware is multi-pole and uni-directional with various speeds.
Any idea of the model of Zanussi it came from as that’s about the only chance we’ll have of checking this ?
Even then, it may prove to be a trial and error thing. Don’t forget you’ll need the capacitor for it as well.
Dave.

I admit that it would be difficult to solve this task.
My work is on Radio Tv service, so I’m not so comfortable with those motors.Anyway. A label on the motor say:(Hardly readebly)
5 SOLE Maid in ITALY
7 Type 20571.277 Cl.F
2 230-240v~ 50Hz
7 A W RPM uF VL
3 3.4 170 2850 16 450
7 1.6 60 320 16 300
0 12403661/1 *4.35.M*The most i understand, but not the left vertical numbers (5727370) and What is VL (450 / 300) ?, and the last line.
It is possible that this motor come from a Sanussi, but i did not look after when i picked out the Motor and the Condensator. I had about 20 machines to select among, and mostly of them looks to have the same motor.
Since my hobby is woodworking, I’m making some toys for my granchildren. A fully working bandsaw with new motor would be the top of the hill for me.February 11, 2005 at 11:12 pm #125619Dave_Conway

May I make a suggestion please 😉
Go to your local recyling point and grab an old twin tub washing machine.
The motors are far simpler, single pole etc.
On the whole they will have a V belt pulley already fitted as well.

ParticipantLooks suspiciously like the motor in the old 918. I’d tend to agree with Dave tho- do the speeds even suit you? Most induction motors are 1440rpm so unless you alter pulley sizing etc, 320 or 2850 would cause problems…

It seems to be a good idea to find a another motor not so complicated, so I went back to my local recycling place and found a twin tub washing machine. After a lot of struggeling to get out the motor, I discovered that the rotor shaft didn´t fit on wheel on the saw. 😥
At the time now it is snowing heavy, so I have to wait until tomorrow and start over again.
Now i´m scanning the net for finding some chematic for how to connect the capacitor. Somethin tells me that the connections are easy. But I have to know for certain. I cannot give up now, so i´ll be back.February 16, 2005 at 7:47 pm #125622admin

Finally I made it!!
With the Sole motor.
Now i have 2 speeds and the band saw is working fine.
After experimenting with 7 colored wires and the condensator I´ve got the hang of it.
Well. The speed at 2850 is someway high, and i left the room when the saw started, but it didn´t come after me, so I went back and tested it.
All i can say is that everything isok now. 😆
But. Thanks for trying to support me. Forums like this worth gold for guys like me.January 18, 2013 at 2:06 pm #125623John47
