Participant8 different variants on this one – please post up the “pnc” number as well. This will give the fridge lads a better chance of helping you.

That isn’t the full model number I’m afraid.
It will be ZX77/??
We’ll assume though that it is a frost free unit, in which case there is an excessive ice build up in the freezer by the sound of it.
This could be down to either a defrost problem (engineer required) or the freezer door was left open accidently.
Either way, you can check by emptying and switching off for 24 hours with the doors open to defrost it completely then try again. IF it carries on working then problem solved, if there is an underlying problem though it will ice up again in either a few days or a few weeks giving the same symptoms.

In that case, please follow my previous advise and defrost it as it’s a frost free unit 😀

Thanks.
All OK now
So What happens and will it occur every so often ?February 15, 2005 at 8:45 am #125841Dave_Conway
ParticipantRe: Zanussi ZX77 Fridge Freezer
Possibly, if it does please come back and check here as you’ll need an engineer to rectify the underlying cause.

There will be a fix yes, but it depends on the fault as it could be one of a few things causing this to be honest.
Checking the directories and repairs@ for an engineer may be your best option.

this model along with with some otherfrost free hade a problem with the defrost drain valve. it is a small rubber tube like the end of a baloon which is on the exit of the drain above the compressor. it would stick shuth and not let water through and ice would then form under the evap and if left long enough wold cut air to fridge.
remove valve and clean. ice will probebly take more than 24 hrs to defrost as it is 2.5 inchs thich and 6 inchs high behing an insulated panel. I would sujest removing rear panel to aid defrosting, if you have steam cleaner or wall paper striper this would speed it up as steam melts ice fast. if the ice is in the evap only you have a timer or heater circuit problem. my bet would be the timer. good luck. -
