Good Afternoon,
I have read the information on here about liquids but something no one has ever directly answered is do they completely dissolve? I read somewhere (I forget where) that liquids don’t fully dissolve and stick to the inner drum and pipes. How exactly does this happen as they are fully dissolved unlike powders. I find Ariel liquid in particular a pain for build and hard to rinse due to it being high foaming. Perhaps someone could answer why they are so bad apart from lack of bleaching agents.

You can’t control the dose on any tablet and all of them, in soft water especially, have a tendency to err on the side of overdose IME.
Liquids are easy to overdose, too easy. Don’t have bleach. Tend to over foam because, in large part, it’s easy to overdose but they appear more susceptible for some reason.
It isn’t that the detergent doesn’t dissolve it’s that the wash programs used are very often wrongly used for the care labels and/or detergent as well as constant low temperature washing (40?C and less) and this leads to bacteria build ups in the machine.
Use any quick wash program regularly and it is almost certain to happen irrespective of the detergent used as, they don’t clean, just refresh.

Very soft water here, always use Ariel Tablets, they are very easy to break in half for small loads. 😉

But the boxes of tablets are much smaller and fit in the cupboard better than the boxes of loose powder. 😛

True, but I’d still advise powder over tabs any day. Even half a tab here can be too much depending on the load and soil level.

The same is true of any type of surfactant if misused.

Funnily enough most of the local supermarkets sell the green box Ariel tablets but not the purple, colour tablets.
We buy that in those stonking huge boxes as it is cheaper than buying the standard sized box.
Still prefer the tablets, most people who use powder tend to pour it all over the place, clogging up the rinse aid dispenser at the same time.

We’re talking washing machine here Jim not dishwasher.
Almat Colour Tablets are brilliant and 1/3rd price of Persil & Ariel.

I am talking washing machines as well Martin, why else would I have mentioned colour detergents. 😉
Won’t touch ALDI stuff, a large percentage of local rotted drum supports are people using Almat. :rolls:

Have to admit we live close to an aldi store and their dishwasher tablets are pretty good.
