I might have a go at seeing if I can repair it myself since I’m an electronic engineer. The engineer is charging a call out charge of £80 plus labour. God almighty.

I’ve been told that the error code means “out of temp range” which may be down to the thermostat, control unit or the heater. So, How do I remove the heater element, locate and remove the thermostat and control unit?

I’ve had a look on the Hotpoint website and looked for the error code 20 but couldn’t find it. Can anyone give me the link?

    Thanks for your time.

£80-90 is typical for company service these days.
Heater is accessible from the underside of the appliance. From memory the thermistor is in the door, the safety stat is underneath and the electronics are all in the top panel.

The code means under temperature, so check heater and safety first.

Pull the plug before doing anything.

    What is the safety stat?

It manages to get all the way through a pre-wash cycle with no heat. However, for a wash cycle at 40C, it displays “No Heat” all the way through and so after the final rinse after 30mins or so, it beeps with the error 20. But, When I open the door, the steam feels hotter than 40C.

My guess, based on this is that it’s probably the temp sensor, which you reckon is located in the door.
Is it simply a case of removing the screws holding the back panel onto the door to access the sensor then?

    Cheers, matey
