I got sent this from a Lettings Agency. Limited details, Tecnik DCP1066, queried washing bowl but agents not come back to me yet.

I’ve seen some badly shaped elements but this one is pretty spectacular.

Normally element go OC if they warp too much but this a bit unusual. I presume over heating might cause this if the oven was not fitted with a TOC and say the stat stuck open??

    Any thoughts??

Spectacular warping I must admit and many can get like this when the retaining rings fail as appears in this case. I don’t think it an overheating problem though.

Went to a beko oven yesterday to fit an 1800w common element and when I stripped it some bodger had some how managed to fit an old style creda 2.5kw one with the centre fixing, I’d say this was warped but I’d have to put the pieces back together to find out, the mind boggles

Did you do your ohms law calculations.

    Why would I want to

To assess it’s capacity to use a larger wattage element.

It’s supposed to have an 1800w so why bother. Fit the correct one no problem !!

Maybe the correct one was fitted.

Since when did beko use the creda style element. Can you not put anything useful on this forum.

You can interchange elements, it’s very useful to know, as prices can differ, it’s very important for a business to remain competitive and maximise its profit ratios.

    That helpful enough?

Or would you prefer to learn Ohms law and power triangles.

Not really. May make you feel better though, in a small way.

Re: Tecnik Oven – Unusually badly warped element

I once used the ohms law to work out what was wrong with the Creda oven years ago as it was not warming up quickly enough. The stats and seals were in perfect working order so I resorted to test the element and worked it out that element was indeed slowly dying, I then replaced the element with a brand new one and lo and behold the oven warmed up fast! That was a very unusual case for me.

It’s an overlooked tool that can help when faced with an unusual fault. It’s used by engineers as opposed to part changers or the phone a friend tool.

Re: Tecnik Oven – Unusually badly warped element

I don’t get it, all this nonesense about applying ohms law and oven/grill elements, why? As long ago as I can ever recall oven elements have their rating stamped indelibly on their fixing bracket. So I have never asked Ohm or needed to phone a friend over the issue. Even when some dopey customer has removed and thrown away the element then fitting the correct replacement has been a no brainer.
