I have a Hotpoint condenser tumble dryer TCD970 which has started to squeak after about 30 minutes and also has a strange smell as the clothes get drier. I have also notice small silver foil like bits in the fluff filter at the end of the cycle.
This all began when I put a really wet load in the dryer and the dryer would not start and made this horrible smell, I half emptied the dryer and it started to work, but with this squeaking noise, which has remained since. Any advice what it could be? the silver like bits do concern me as I wonder if it is bits of something that could be harmful 😕 . Any advice welcome.

look at back of dryer remove plastic sem-circle (2 screws)

in the middle is the drum rear bearing. if its central no probs but i suspect it will be well worn and will have cut a groove in the shaft so the centre of the drum shaft will be lower than it should be

    Hi
Thank you for the reply, I will do as you say, if the bearing is worn, do I replace it and is it an easy job? further to what I wrote earlier I removed the condenser unit today to clean it and noticed at the back of the dryer a large amount of water and fluff, I scooped all this out and cleaned the filter, now I’m worried the water isn’t being pumped correctly, although there always seems alot of water in the water container, any ideas?
