ParticipantPlease help
Our Miele just started flipping the main RCD switch in our consumer unit every time I switch it on (so all our lights go off!) I have tried it on a rinse cycle but again it flips the main RCD.
We opened the top up and by trial and error (and advise from a generic engineer) we unplugged one of the black plugs (marked with a no17) and it seems to be working. However we are not sure what we have unplugged so cannot continue to use it.
Please advise, many thanks

Follow the wires and you’ll figure out what the problem is. 😉

I can’t follow the wire as it goes into an encased unit which runs down the front of the machine with other wires. Anyone got a wiring diagram? Thanks

That unit you unplugged is the relay for the water heater,so you could have a faulty relay,or a faulty heater itself.. You need tontake the front of the machine off to further inspect the heater…power off at all times. Zap!!
You may find a diagram tucked away in the front as wellMartin

Could you supply us with a side view of the unit you unplugged. And possibly a view of the whole top view of the machine?
The heater relay is usually on tje right hand side, and is a orange/tan color plastic unit.
Judging by the thickness of the black wires connected to it I’m almost certain its the heater relayAugust 27, 2014 at 9:22 am #418331Andrewkirk

Thanks for your replies, will post another photo when get home to open it up. How would I know if it was the heater or the relay when I do look at it? Without having to buy both! Thanks!
