ParticipantFridge at 3degC, freezer temp display flashing and although freezing, is not getting cold enough.
Comp not getting hot and was not running when I arrived.
Continuity across freezer heaters, temp sensor and TOC.
Both evap fans and cond fan all running ok.
No build up of ice anywhere.
Rather choked up evap coils which I dusted out.
Bit baffled really. Do these have a diverter valve to channel refrigerant between fridge and freezer evaporators, and if so could this be the problem?

If the condenser fan motor was working and the compressor was not running it may have a faulty compressor relay as the compressor should be running if the fan is working.
No diverter valve fitted on this model

Hi Bob,
The compressor was not running on arrival, ie it had got down to the ‘correct’ temp. Comp and fans all kicked in after I’d metered defrost comps and plugged it back in. Sorry, I should have been clearer.

Hi
Then it’ll be defrost circuit. If you’ve checked them.. Check again

Hi Bryan,
Pretty confident re all defrost components except for sensor as I don’t know what resistance values this should return for any given temp. All I can say is that it was about 12K ohms at about 20degC. I’ll try swapping it anyway, and see what happens.
Thanks for your reply.

Hi

Spoke to customer this am. Freezer temp is now down to -20degC. This is since I restarted it about 48hrs ago. I’ve come across the usual freezing up faults on the likes of RS21 and RSH1, and also observed a Samsumg refusing to operate after failing to defrost just once after being switched on – this was due to an OC TOC. This problem does however seem different again. Is there a kind person who could mail me technical info on these machines so that I can get a better idea of how they work?

Turned out to be the fridge defrost heater.
