Hi can anyone help? My tumble dryer has been making some weird noises recently, and unless it is loaded very carefully, the drum won;t turn and there is a burning smell. Eek.
Now, however, it has stopped totally. There is no noise from the machine at all, ie. from the timer etc.
Any ideas? I assume its totally buggered, can I see a shopping trip coming on!

A common problem with these machine was the collapse of the rear drum bearing assembly, causing it to drop, in turn causing wierd noises and eventually the drum jamming or drive belt breaking.

Rear bearing 1250134-11/9, drum rear shaft 1230232-03/8. You will need to change both. Drop a line to spares@ukwhitegoods.com for price and availability.

Do nothing without pulling the plug first.

Thanks for your help. I’ll get hubby to remove the back of the machine and see if we can spot what is going on!

I have to replace the drive belt on mine, but from removing the top, it looks like the drum might fall out or need to be supported somehow.

If he’s done it, can you please tell me what is involved with removing the rear panel ?

Admin/Mods – Sirs or Ma’ams, any idea what the part number for the belt is ? 🙂

    Thanks,

    Jahn

    Jahn,
Drive belt is p/no 12582888-10/7, contact spares@ukwhitegoods.com to order.

I am unable to give exact instructions as to how to do the belt swap – sufficed to say it is a “screwdriver job” and that laying the dryer on its face helps.

Please check: http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … pic&t=4359 for an explanation.

    Pull the plug first………

    Regards,
    Penguin45.

Thank you Penguin45, may your God smile upon you always.

It looked like removing the back with all that multitude of screws might lead to the entire insides of the machine falling out.
I’ll go ahead with the attempted repair 😯
and post a follow-up if there’s anything relevant.

😳 Umm, what plug do you mean …. BANG!! sizzle sizzle (JOKE)

I will definitely unplug everything in range.
