ParticipantHi All,
I have a Hotpoint WT721 that is displaying F08, all lights were flashing it started to wash and now flashes F08.
Help!!1 have a young family and mountain of clothes to wash, would rather repair it that just dump it and buy a new machine. I am very competent with a multimeter.
Kind regards
Andy

F08 : Oh dear, bad news, heater related fault. Could be a faulty heater, thermistor, duff control board, bad connection, wrong time of the month or a sudden change in wind direction. I kid you not F08 is a difficult fix and I wish you well solving it from the clues I gave.

Hi Martin,
OK thank you, so with heater could it just be O/C? Is the thermistor on the heater? like a plug in unit? Connections I can check no problem. I had heard someone say it could be worn brushes? I guess thats not true?
With control PCB are they just plug and play or do they need to be programmed?
Kind regards

Ok, Can I test the thermistor? I was thinking if I use a multimeter on the two terminals and put the thermistor in cup of hot water the resistance should change? indicating it is OK? Or are they more complex or a better way to test?

You are correct, the resistance across those terminals (measured in Kohms) will change as the temperature fluctuates up or down. 😀
