I’ve always paid particular attention to getting the self resetting and non-resetting thermostats the right way round on Hotpoint tumble dryer heaters when replacing them. I suspect some people fitting these kits (especially DIY) don’t pay that much attention and get them the wrong way round.
What would the consequences of getting them the wrong way round? Am I right in thinking this would compromise the fire protection of the dryer, as the non-resetting thermostat would no longer isolate the whole heater?
The cycling stat on the fuse circuit would still cut on and off the heat as normal. So in effect there would be little or no detectable consequence of them being swapped over I would imagine.
Fantastic iadom, the diagram confirms my fears are unfounded.
The cycling stat cuts the live to both elements, the one shot cuts the neutral to both, so the heater is fail-safe even if the stats are inadvertently reversed.
