Can anyone offer advice please.
I have 3 BSH dishwashers, all 3 years ish old, with intermittent flood protection operation. One seems to be detergent related as the customer changed to Finish with no problem, then used another brand and fault reoccurred. The other 2 seem OK then totally at random shut down. Having had all 3 machines in the workshop on test with the panels off, they’ve all done 10-12 hot washes with no problems. When returning to the customers all seems fine, then same fault.
I’ve warned them that opening the door when in use can cause problems, and all assure me that doen’t happen.
I know the flood prection system is more sensitive on these newer machines, and there is signs of water in their bases, but the machines seem to reset overnight, I guess through evaporation.

It’s a known issue. Check location in case condensation is forming inside appliance.

If its the full metal tub version, it may be leaking from the tub sump seal. There’s a repair kit for that which consists of a small rubber seal fitted between the tub and sump.
If its the plastic base/bottom machine then there can be leaks from the outer edges where the tub sits in the base. This normally shows up as a yellowy residue at the join on rear or sides where the tub sits in the base ‘groove’.Re: Later type Bosch/ Neff/ Siemens dishwashers
All metal tubs, no sign of leaking from the sump,( I’ve had that and perforations in the tub), so I’m stumped, especially as both the other machines haven’t played up for over a week now!! I’m thinking more “dodgy detergent” now than ever.

I would doubt detergent overfoaming an issue, not on a full sized dishwasher like this. Rinse aid possibly but not detergent. The tub seal, as Paul said, is a recognised problem and THE most likely IMHO.
In your workshop test you could overdose the detergent to prove a point. 💡

All these machines currently still OK! Had a Miele doing same thing this week.
Took off the panels cleared water from the base and watched through a normal cycle, no leaks. Customer has used every day since, no problems.
When I warned against opening the door when machine in use and hot, she said that they do, and always have. Could explain the problem, as the pressure build up when closing the door is considerable.Re: Later type Bosch/ Neff/ Siemens dishwashers
I’ve had this problem several times. The common factor on all the Bosch machines I’ve seen is they only leaked if the intensive cycle is selected and the water appears right at the end of the hot last rinse. I tried all the other cycles and none leaked at all. Just the intensive cycle and just at the end. And always from the back of the sump on the left side looking from the front above the diverter valve.
Fitted a new tub to sump seal in all cases and all OK. As others have said, it’s a known issue.HTH,
