    Hi

I have an Indesit IDF125 S which has recently started to misbehave.

It was running on an economy wash, stopped and lights 1 and 2 were flashing. The diswasher had not drained, I disconnected it and drained the waste pipe and sump of the dishwashter. The waste pipe appears to be clear.

I ran the dishwasher again empty today and experienced the same problem, although this time the diswasher had drained. I’ve seen from searching previous posts that flashing lights 1 + 2 are likely to mean a drain time out. I’m assuming that this may mean the drain pump needs replaced. But if the drain pump has failed then it seems odd that the dishwasher drained when I tested it again. Any help on possible fixes would be greatly appreciated.

I’m replying to my own post as I think I have solved my Dishwasher problem. I accessed the pumps on the bottom of the dishwasher to find the cause. For those who haven’t done this before there are some useful instructional videos on youtube. I took off the drain pump and determined it seemed to be in working condition (see youtube videos again on how to check this). I found a piece of perspex/clear plastic in the outlet part where the drain pump impeller is located. This was a square in shape and exactly the right size to cover the outlet hole. I’m assuming this was happening sometimes when the drain pump was operational, enough to bring up the drain time out error. Previously we had heard to grinding noise from the diswasher when it was in use, which must have been the piece of plastic grinding against the impeller. I’m running my dishwasher again now to check its fixed. But subject to this being my last post on this subject you can assume I’m now the money saving, labour saving diswasher conquering hero (at least to my wife).
