    Hi Folks,

I have the above cooker (Indesit FI31KBIX GB) which last night seemed to trip the consumer unit a couple of times, the penny didn’t drop at first until I noticed the oven hadn’t warmed up properly in the twenty minutes I’d left it running as I was making a pie!

Turning it off and on again, the fan then kicked in straight away and it was off like a good ‘un, and upon searching the net and using a bit of common, my brain tells me that’s going to be the element, not the fan, as the fan kicked in once the element had a ‘good circuit’ and power was flowing?

I’ve tracked some down on eBay for about £11, was thinking of taking the cover off and having a nosey to sort of confirm first, should I be able to see some fairly obvious signs of ‘damage’ and is my thinking/theory about the fan correct?

    Thanks in advance, Dave.

Probably the element, should be this one:

But, could also be the cooling fan or control stat as that will only power up when it reaches 75?C.

    Stat here:

Cooling fan not so much of an issue… usually.

Any of them going to earth or shorting would cause your RCD to trip out.

    K.

Thank you very much for the prompt reply, much appreciated, I’ll order one through the site in that case 😉

Just took the outer part off but it doesn’t ‘look’ that bad, but without testing it means nothing I know, for the sake of a tenner I’ll just change it……
