    It suddenly started beeping after a wash and would not switch off nor select any of the programmes.It is not showing any error messages. Just in case it was the door operated switch was jammed I gently prodded it with a screwdriver, something went click and now the door does not `lock`
    Maybe I broke the switch (which I doubt) or it was not operating correctly hence the fault.
    As a new switch is quite costly is there anything I can do to check the interlocking door switch is the offending part.

    switch needs to be pulled forward again i use a peice of old wire coat hanger with a 10mm “L” shape at the end. hook it into the “U” of the latch and pull it forward

    That doesnt pull it forward, I will try and get time to take the door off and access the switch for a good look.

    Does anything look broken?

    the white plastic but you can see has a “U” shape that grabs the loop on the frame. all you have to do is get soething in the “U” and pull it ( down in the above picture)

    otherwise strip it out and roll the latch back into position

    its not broken its just in the locked position

    ok thanks for the info I will I will give it another go tomorrow and if necessary strip it out for closer inspection.

    I will post back on the outcome.

    OK I have taken the switch but still unable to free without using excessive force,

    pull plastic piece down so “U” shape faceing forward

    and yes it does take a bit of force it has to hold the door shut

    Now sorted. 🙂

    I eventually released the spring and got it back to the proper position and then had a hard time of it to get that spring back on, but made a tool from some stout wire to assist me, with 2 hooks on the end to hold the `bar` and the spring and pull it up to where it is seated, and that worked.

    Done a rinse and a wash and so far working properly.

    I thought post on this thread as I think my problem stems from my original post.
    Dishwasher works, BUT…….
    When I close the door it sometimes beeps once and then gives a double beep and turns off. It appears that the contact part that locks the door is not connecting properly as I can firmly hold the door in place (beeps once) but when I release the pressure it sometimes beeps twice for `off` I can usually get the cycle to work eventually.
    I cannot see any means of adjusting, anyone got experience of this?

    either

    1 lock needs changing
    2 top hoop may adjust does on some dishwashers
    3 door is strained so wont close properly

    Thanks for the reply Dave,

    I had a quick look and I think option 3 could be the answer, I will see if over the next day or two I can adjust whatever on the hinges as it does look as is if the alignment could be out.

    I suspect the lock is ok but will `test` by setting the washer and manually push in the switch (now that I know how to pull it back out re your previous advice). The metal hoop I have already tried and there is no apparent adjustment.

    if the hinges have been bent you need to change them as they bend if door is strained
