Microwave part of the appliance blew the internal 8.0 amp fuse inside and checked out the HT cap which was leaking badly, this in turn had cooked the HT transformer so when only half the mains voltage was applied with a variac it started to cook nicely at 10.0amps giving out some 800v negative. Magnetron ok and changed capacitor for a new 1.06 micro farad. Diodes all ok and swopped out just in case
Now I need a replacement transformer (unit spec 900 W) RTRN-A016URE1 but can only find a RTRN-A018URE0 S/H transformer on eBay but that unit came from a Sharp R-254 (800 W) microwave oven.
Does anybody now what the power spec is for these Korean HT transformers are and if the RTRN-A018URE0 would supply enough power without frying up for my 900 watt unit?
Any chaps out there with microwave knowledge on these HT transformers installed in Sharp units?
Took a punt on a second hand one on eBay by Green Recycling Ltd.
Slightly smaller windings for a lower powered Sharp transformer but the filament long lead had been cut right through from the transformer base whilst in transit. (5 kg)
Hope to wire it up and check the lamination temp whilst on and monitoring the HT voltage. (have a 40KV high voltage probe)
Many thanks Dave for the email. Hands in pockets on this one?
