    Shaft on the front r/h/s regulator has broken off in customers hand….. is the complaint.

    Decided to order a pattern part as the Smeg was too expensive from connect (816810066 used ELE4117)

    Fitted it fine even though some spade postions were in a different place so matched up the numbers, as usual in these cases…. it came on great but didn’t really cut itself off until the second test – put it back together and NOTHING, didn’t heat up!! Re-checked connections but still nothing.

    Went back with a second ELE4117 today and the same thing happened…. is it me or is something else wrong?
    Customer complaint was still only about the broken shaft and not its operation.

    Confused…

    since they are simple simmerstats it sound like you have a connection wrong
    check all the wires out using the other units as a guide
    pay particular attention to the load and live connection

    all the pictures I can find are identical to original units so wires should not move
